The current administration, comprised of Joyce A. W de Green (Director) and Priscilla McQueen (Deputy Head), began its work in May 1990 with a clear vision of modernizing and adapting the school to present-day educational needs, without losing the strong academic foundation which had always characterized it.
To achieve this purpose, the infrastructure of the school was improved (tiled floors, air conditioning, a new building to house the library, one of the computer labs. and conference rooms, then the gymnasium/ auditorium facility) and the program of studies was revised. Music, Folklore, Laboratory and Environmental Science were introduced in Elementary and Junior High. High School programs were modernized and the Math program was totally redesigned. The school became computerized and enjoyed the distinction of being the first school in the country to be connected to the internet. The two computer labs continue to be upgraded regularly to meet new technological advances.
In the year 2000, with a view to preparing students to be equipped to meet the challenges of globalization, an alternative program of studies was introduced in 11th and 12th grades, which included Environmental Science and Japanese Language. Panama is uniquely situated to be and ideal subject of for the study of Environmental Science and the carefully designed program includes many hands-on projects within the local community, thereby increasing a student's awareness of local problems and making him a better citizen, Japanese was chosen as the new language because of the traditional links between the school and the Japanese School in Panama, and because of the important role Japan plays in world commerce. Students are given ample opportunity to practice their language skills in cultural exchanges with the Japanese School.
